1st4film Camera teams have just returned from a month in Afghanistan where the company has produced a breathtaking recruitment film for Army Medical Services. Captain Peter Burgess in charge of the project for the AMS chose 1st4film over larger London based production companies; " 1st4film had a real passion for the project, their approach was refreshing and inspiring, the finished film was groundbreaking and we were absolutely delighted to use this utterly professional company ".
1st4film Director/ Cameraman David Varley continued;
" I filmed some traumatic situations, leg amputations, brain operations, IED ( Improvised explosive device ) victims, both soldiers and civilians, I managed to film the medics through their eyes rather than focusing on the patients. I think what interested me the most was how they coped with the environment, what got them through?, the answer, team work, friendship, camaraderie and a serious dose of black humour, never directed at patients of course, but generally at each other.
We managed to capture the medics at work, rest and play giving a memorable recruitment film that directly targeted NHS professionals"
1st4film and the MOD are now looking for a broadcaster who would be interested in viewing the footage with a view to producing a documentary about the medics, both British and American working in the Camp Bastian Hospital.

ITV Yorkshire
1st4film was commissioned in November 2009 to produce a documentary for ITV Yorkshire about Richard Hayles, a boxer from Sheffield who had recently been released from prison after 7 years.
Director, David Varley says "The finished film gave a great insight into the mind of a man who had been dramatically changed by prison, I truly believe Richard will make his mark in the professional boxing arena" The film itself was broadcast on ITV Yorkshire on the 24/11/2008 and was extremely well received, "We have more projects for ITV in the pipeline and we look forward to working with them closely in 2009."
